Mariculture Liaison Program

The Alaska Mariculture Alliance (AMA) has contracted with regional Alaska Native-focused organizations to host dedicated Mariculture Liaisons to provide communication, connection, and coordination services to underserved, rural, and Alaska Native communities. The Mariculture Liaisons facilitate access to resources within the AMC grant and support mariculture development efforts that meet local and Tribal priorities.

The Mariculture Liaisons are tasked with informing and meeting with their region’s Tribes and underserved communities to exchange information related to local mariculture priorities and opportunities. The liaisons plan, design and conduct culturally appropriate listening sessions, workshops, and presentations for the purpose of sharing information about and collecting input on local mariculture priorities, and incorporating traditional knowledge, subsistence methods, regenerative economics, and local food movements into regional mariculture development. Written reports will be generated after each session and workshop.
